Ricciardo spoke honestly about his future and plans for next season and alluded to him not participating in the following Formula 1 season to Sky Sports F1.
The Australian said: “I can confidently say, I won’t be on the grid, behind a wheel”
The former Renault driver did indicate that he still would like a role within the sport, even if it was away from the race seat.
“I still want to be in the sport.
“I want to be working with a team”
This was following the conclusion of the Mexican Grand Prix with the 33-year-old finishing 7th despite a 10 second penalty after a collision with Alpha-Tauri’s, Yuki Tsunoda.
This performance gave Ricciardo the F1 Driver of the Day award as he currently sits 12th in the driver’s standings.
The 8-time race winner also projected his plan to be back behind the steering wheel in the future.
The McLaren driver said: “Still with the ambition of being back on in the grid in 2024.
“Let’s say I’m not done but it will look a little different”
The Perth born star reiterated that a break would be beneficial for him and his career aspects.
Ricciardo has only one race win in Formula 1 for McLaren since joining in 2021.
He also said: “I feel like a bit of time away from a race seat will do me good.”
“Let’s rebuild on something for ‘24! (2024)”
