Villa boss Steven Gerrard will not throw away his ambition to crawl away from the relegation zone.
Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard pledged to ‘keep fighting’ even after another Premier League loss to Chelsea.
A Mason Mount double cemented another loss for the Villans as questions begin to circle the Villa manager.
Gerrard said: “I keep fighting, keep leading, keep trying to change this.
“We make a costly mistake, and the best teams will punish you”
Despite a clear improvement in performance compared to recent weeks, the defeat leaves Villa sitting in 16th in the Premier League.
Pressure has been mounting on the former Liverpool captain yet there is a fighting talk and optimism from the 42-year-old.
“We created lots of chances, the way we played in and out of possession, the tempo, the intensity was there.
“I will take all the criticism and pressure that comes my way.
“If that helps the players perform like they did in the first hour, I don’t think this team will have any issues”
The Midlands outfit now sit a single point above the bottom three as the clock starts ticking for Gerrard and the fans begin to jeer and question their manager.
“I have to accept it and try and do everything I can to change the way they’re feeling at the moment”
